Abstract
Αντικείμενο της διπλωματικής αυτής εργασίας είναι η διερεύνηση της σχέσης των δημόσιων χώρων στην πόλη με τη συγκρότηση εν δυνάμει κοινοτήτων μέσω της διαδικασίας του μοιράσματος (communing). Το πρότζεκτ συνδυάζει έρευνα, τέχνη και παρέμβαση, αξιοποιώντας ποικίλες μεθόδους, όπως ζωγραφική, κυανοτυπία και επιτελεστική εγκατάσταση. Η εργασία εξετάζει πώς η καλλιτεχνική πρακτική μπορεί να δημιουργήσει συνθήκες και αφηγήσεις που ενεργοποιούν συλλογικές εμπειρίες στον δημόσιο χώρο, καθώς και πώς η καθημερινή εμπειρία στην πόλη τροφοδοτεί και εμπλουτίζει την καλλιτεχνική διαδικασία. Βασιζόμενη σε κοινότητες πολιτικής δράσης και στη graffiti σκηνή κατά την περίοδο 2008–2018, η μελέτη διερευνά πώς η παρουσία στον δρόμο, το αίσθημα του ανήκειν και η φαντασία ενός κοινά μοιρασμένου μέλλοντος συμβάλλουν στη συγκρότηση κοινοτήτων. Μέσω μιας μυθοπλαστικής αφήγησης, η κοινότητα αποτυπώνεται οπτικά και επιτελεστικά, καταλήγοντας σε μια γιορτή στον υπογειοποιημένο Ιλισσό, η οποία υλοποιεί και τεκμηριώνει την ύπαρξη της κοινότητας. Η εργασία θέτει κεντρικά ερωτήματα σχετικά με την προέλευση της καλλιτεχνικής αναζήτησης, τη φύση της συμμετοχής, τη συγκρότηση του «εμείς» και τον ρόλο της συλλογικής εφευρετικότητας στον σχεδιασμό του μέλλοντος.
Abstract in english
This thesis investigates the relationship between urban public spaces and the formation of potential communities through the process of communing. The project combines research, art, and intervention, employing diverse methods such as painting, cyanotype, and performative installation. It examines how artistic practice can establish conditions and narratives that activate collective experiences in public space, and how everyday urban life informs and enriches artistic practice. Drawing on politically active communities and the graffiti scene between 2008 and 2018, the study explores how street presence, a sense of belonging, and the imagination of a shared future contribute to community formation. Through a fictional narrative, the community is materialized visually and performatively, culminating in a festival in the underground Ilissos river, which enacts and documents its existence. The thesis raises central questions regarding the origins of artistic inquiry, the nature of participation, the construction of the “we,” and the role of collective inventiveness in shaping the future.
