Abstract
Το έργο αποτελεί μια παραλλαγή του μύθου της Αριάδνης. Ο λαβύρινθος είναι φτιαγμένος από 160 πήλινα τούβλα τύπου λέγκο (leg godt σημαίνει στα δανέζικα ‘παίξε όμορφα’). Η Αριάδνη ‘πρωταγωνιστεί’ πάνω στα τούβλα, σε απεικονίσεις συναισθηματικών/ ψυχολογικών καταστάσεων σε νυχτερινό τοπίο με αστέρια (‘Αστέριος’ ήταν το όνομα του Μινώταυρου). Ο λαβύρινθος δεν έχει εμφανή έξοδο. Η Αριάδνη ως κυρίαρχη μορφή (από πηλό επίσης) βρίσκεται μέσα στον λαβύρινθο, από τον οποίο δεν μπορεί να βγει, ούτε με δράση (κομμένα χέρια), ούτε με φυγή (κομμένα πόδια), αλλά με υπέρβαση (κατοπτεύοντας από το κέντρο του λαβύρινθου τις ψυχολογικές/ συναισθηματικές καταστάσεις τις οποίες βιώνει). Σύμφωνα με τον μύθο, ο Θησέας φεύγοντας από την Κρήτη πήρε μαζί του την Αριάδνη, η οποία τον είχε βγάλει με τον μίτο της από τον λαβύρινθο του Μινώταυρου. Στη διαδρομή προς την Αθήνα το καράβι τους έκανε στάση στην Νάξο. Ο Θησέας συνέχισε για την Αθήνα και άφησε την Αριάδνη στην Νάξο, στον Διόνυσο ο οποίος την παντρεύτηκε και την ανέβασε στον Όλυμπο ανάμεσα στους θεούς. Στον μύθο η Αριάδνη, μεγάλωσε σε παλάτι, ερωτεύτηκε, μέσω του έρωτα δραπέτευσε, πρόδωσε και προδόθηκε, λάτρεψε και λατρεύτηκε. Είχε όμως τον έλεγχο της ζωής της; Κατάγομαι από την Νάξο όπου η Αριάδνη λατρεύτηκε ως θεά.
Abstract in english
The artwork is a variation of Ariadne’s myth. The maze is made of 160 ‘a type of lego’ clay bricks (leg godt means ‘play well’ in Danish). Ariadne ‘starred’ on the bricks in depictions of emotional/psychological states in a night landscape with stars (‘Star’ was the name of Minotaur). The maze has no obvious exit. Ariadne as a dominant figure (made also from clay), is in the maze, from which she can’t come out with action (cut arms and legs). She can only come out, through transcendence (by being in the labyrinth’s center and observing from a higher perspective her own emotional/ psychological states). According to the myth, Theseus after escaping from the labyrinth by using the thread that Ariadne gave him, he left Crete together with Ariadne as promised. On the way to Athens their boat stopped in Naxos. Theseus continued to Athens and left Ariadne in Naxos to Dionysus who took her as his bride on Olympus Mountain among gods. In the myth, Ariadne grew up in a palace, fell in love and through love managed to escape. She was betrayed and adored. But did she actually have control over her life? I am from Naxos where Ariadne was worshiped as a goddess.
