| dc.description.abstract | Η Αυτοκρατορία Σαρκός είναι ένας στοχασμός για την τέχνη ως πεδίο όπου το σώμα γίνεται μύθος, και ο μύθος αποκτά νέο σώμα. Η δομή των ανθρώπινων μορφών είναι βαθειά επηρεασμένη από εκείνες σε ανατομικά σχέδια της αναγέννησης και του μπαρόκ. Μύες, αληθινοί ή φανταστικοί, πάλλονται, φουσκώνουν, τεντώνονται και στρεβλώνονται ακολουθώντας την κίνηση της συνολικής φιγούρας. Έμφαση δίνεται στα σημεία ένωσης σκελετικου και μυικού συστήματος με σκοπό την απόδοση της αντίθεσης του ελαστικού και του άκαμπτου χαραχτήρα των μερών. Οι μορφές και οι αναλογίες τών σωμάτων καθορίζονται από τη σύνθεση και το αρχέτυπο. Η κατανομή του λίπους είναι ανοίκεια. Αντί να εξομαλύνει συνολικά τον άγριο χαρακτήρα της εσωτερικής ανατομίας, αποτελεί κι αυτή εργαλείο έκφρασης μερών ή της αλλιλεπίδρασής τους. Όλα τα μέρη του σώματος συμβάλλουν στο σύνολο της δραματουργίας. Πρόκειται για μια καλλιτεχνική έρευνα πάνω στην αμφισημία της ύπαρξης: γονιμότητα και απειλή, ηρωισμός και καταστροφή, δύναμη και φθορά, προσωπικότητα και προσωπείο. Όπως σημειώνει ο Νίτσε, «μόνο ως αισθητικό φαινόμενο είναι δικαιολογημένη η ύπαρξη του κόσμου». Η εργασία επιχειρεί να αναδείξει ακριβώς αυτήν τη αισθητικότητα της σάρκας ως πεδίο σύγκρουσης και δημιουργίας. | |
| dc.description.abstracttranslated | The Empire of Flesh is a meditation on art as a field where the body becomes myth, and the myth acquires a new body. The structure of the human forms is deeply influenced by those found in anatomical drawings of the Renaissance and the Baroque. Muscles—real or imagined—pulse, swell, stretch, and twist according to the movement of the overall figure. Emphasis is placed on the points where the skeletal and muscular systems meet, with the aim of expressing the contrast between the elastic and the rigid character of the parts. The shapes and proportions of the bodies are determined by composition and archetype. The distribution of fat is uncanny: instead of softening the raw character of the inner anatomy, it too becomes a tool for expressing the nature of the parts or their interaction. Every part of the body contributes to the total dramaturgy. This is an artistic inquiry into the ambiguity of existence: fertility and threat, heroism and destruction, strength and decay, persona and personality. As Nietzsche notes, “it is only as an aesthetic phenomenon that existence and the world are eternally justified.” The work seeks to reveal precisely this aesthetic of flesh—as a field of conflict and creation. | en |
