Abstract
Abstract in english
Engaging with both science and art represents a human endeavor to escape the confusion and mechanical repetitiveness of everyday life, seeking a world that is orderly and timeless. By advancing carefully, with patience, dedication, and longing, every diligent student, visual artist, and researcher can transition from the world of illusion and superficiality into the realm of objective perception and thought. In this body of work, I employ the figures of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from the Book of Revelation (New Testament, Rev 6:1-8) to craft a myth that describes the pathological, septic nature of humanity. To the figure of the first horseman, I attribute a contemplative, incorruptible character who dwells within a sacred and immaterial religious locus, existing formlessly as a mere idea. A pure and pristine spirit, he questions the distressing duty assigned to him by God. Out of pity, he chooses to depart alongside his army and the other horsemen to encounter earthly humans. He is torn and filled with doubt regarding the tangible world, which is unfamiliar to him. Driven by a presumed sense of high morality, he examines and judges the material and psychological world of humans, seeking the reasons why their Creator condemns them in such a manner. He soon recognizes the error of his choice. The world of humans is ephemeral, rife with illusions. Victims of their own passions, they renounce the spirit, scoffing at intellect and morality, truth and knowledge, the beautiful and the sublime; they live idly and superficially within the grimness of their dark desires, far removed from the light of wisdom.
