Abstract
Η περιήγησή μου στην ελληνική επαρχία, και συγκεκριμένα στη Δυτική Ελλάδα, αποτέλεσε την αφετηρία της δημιουργίας των παρόντων έργων. ''Κάτω στον κάμπο'', όπως λένε οι ντόπιοι αναφερόμενοι στην πεδιάδα του Αγρινίου, μελέτησα και αποτύπωσα πάνω σε επιφάνειες αλουμινίου την εδαφική ταυτότητα του τόπου. Ενός τόπου ''σκληρού'', όπου η ξηρασία και η ζέστη τυραννούν καλλιέργειες, ζώα και ανθρώπους. Το χωράφι αποτέλεσε το πεδίο εργασίας. Η πεδιάδα του Αγρινίου, με την εκτεταμένη καλλιέργεια αραβόσιτου, είναι χωρισμένη σε πολλά μικρά χωράφια. Οριοθετείται, έτσι, ένα πεπερασμένο τοπίο, όπου τα όρια κάθε επιφάνειας γης είναι αυστηρά καθορισμένα. Κάθε χωράφι είναι ένας τόπος κλειστός, αλλά συνολικά προκύπτει ένα χερσαίο ενιαίο τοπίο. Καθώς η περιήγησή μου στην ευρύτερη περιοχή του Αγρινίου γίνεται σταδιακά βιωματική, ανακαλύπτω βιομηχανικά υλικά, φόρμες, πρωτογενή ύλη και ήχους, όπως ο εκκωφαντικός ήχος στα ξηραντήρια αραβόσιτου κατά το τέλος του καλοκαιριού.
Αυτά συνθέτουν ένα νέο τοπίο, μια ανασύνθεση στοιχείων σε μια νέα χωροταξία.
Abstract in english
My exploration of the Greek countryside, and more specifically of Western Greece, marked the starting point for the creation of these works. "Down in the plain," as the locals refer to the Agrinio plain, I studied and captured the territorial identity of the place on aluminium surfaces. It is a place of harsh conditions, where drought and intense heat torment crops, animals, and people alike. The field became the site of my work. The Agrinio plain, with its extensive cultivation of maize, is divided into numerous small fields. In this way, a finite landscape is delineated, where the boundaries of each parcel of land are strictly defined. Each field is an enclosed place in itself, yet together they form a unified terrestrial landscape. As my exploration of the wider Agrinio area gradually becomes experiential, I discover industrial materials, forms, raw matter, and sounds, such as the deafening noise of the maize-drying facilities at the end of summer. These elements come together to compose a new landscape—a reconfiguration of elements into a new spatial arrangement.

Brief Bio
Η Ευαγγελία Ζαχαρίου γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Ζει και εργάζεται μεταξύ Αθήνας και Αγρινίου. Εμπνέεται από την ελληνική επαρχία χρησιμοποιώντας φυσικά και βιομηχανικά υλικά. Σπούδασε στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας στο Γ΄ εργαστήριο ζωγραφικής με καθηγητές τον κ. Μ.Σπηλιόπουλο και τον Τ.Τριανταφύλλου, ενώ αποφοίτησε από το Ι΄ εργαστήριο ζωγραφικής με καθηγητή τον κ. Π.Χανδρή.
