| dc.description.abstract | Η διδακτορική μου διατριβή εξετάζει τις βιογραφικές απεικονίσεις των Γιώργου Σεφέρη, Οδυσσέα Ελύτη και Γιάννη Ρίτσου σε κινηματογραφικά και τηλεοπτικά ντοκιμαντέρ ελληνικής παραγωγής, κατά τα έτη 1979-2013, στην Ελλάδα. Αντλώντας εργαλεία από τις σπουδές πολιτισμικής μνήμης (cultural memory studies), η διατριβή αναλύει τους τρόπους με τους οποίους οι Σεφέρης, Ελύτης και Ρίτσος κατασκευάζονται ως σύμβολα πολιτισμικής μνήμης μέσα από τα εν λόγω ντοκιμαντέρ. Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο εξετάζονται θεωρητικά ζητήματα που αφορούν τη θεματική και αφηγηματική ταυτότητα των υπό εξέταση ταινιών. Ταυτόχρονα, διερευνώνται οι σχέσεις του βιογραφικού ντοκιμαντέρ με άλλα είδη όπως οι βιογραφικές ταινίες μυθοπλασίας (biopic) και το ιστορικό ντοκιμαντέρ. Το δεύτερο κεφάλαιο διερευνά την αναπαράσταση της ιδιωτικής ζωής των ποιητών και τη διαμόρφωση της καλλιτεχνικής τους προσωπικότητας. Σε πολλές περιπτώσεις, οι ταινίες ντοκιμαντέρ αναπαράγουν μια ρομαντική εκδοχή του συγγραφέα, ενώ χρησιμοποιούν συγκεκριμένους βιογραφικούς «τόπους» για να ερμηνεύσουν την κάθε βιογραφία. Μέσα σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, αρκετά προσωπικά προβλήματα των συγγραφέων πραματοποιούνται και χρησιμοποιούνται ως επεξηγητικά σχήματα της ζωής τoυς. Ταυτόχρονα, οι συντελεστές των ντοκιμαντέρ τείνουν να συνδέουν τις βιογραφίες του Σεφέρη, του Ελύτη και του Ρίτσου με συλλογικά ιστορικά και πολιτισμικά ζητήματα. Αυτοί οι δεσμοί προϋπάρχουν στις ζωές και τα έργα των ποιητών και επενδύονται ξανά και ξανά με νόημα στις κινηματογραφικές και τηλεοπτικές αφηγήσεις. Το τρίτο κεφάλαιο εστιάζει στην αναπαράσταση του Σεφέρη, του Ελύτη και του Ρίτσου ως πολιτικών προσώπων. Οι ταινίες ντοκιμαντέρ διαπραγματεύονται διαφορετικές πτυχές της πολιτικής δράσης των τριών ποιητών προκειμένου να ερμηνεύσουν το πολιτικό τους προφίλ και τον δημόσιο βίο τους. Την ίδια στιγμή, οι συντελεστές των ντοκιμαντέρ συσχετίζουν το έργο των ποιητών με συγκεκριμένα ιστορικά και πολιτισμικά γεγονότα μέσω του μηχανισμού του μοντάζ. Μέσα σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, τα ποιήματα του Σεφέρη, του Ρίτσου και του Ελύτη λειτουργούν ως μετωνυμικά σύμβολα για διάφορες ιστορικές περιόδους. Το τέταρτο κεφάλαιο αναλύει τους τρόπους με τους οποίους οι ταινίες ντοκιμαντέρ απεικονίζουν το ιστορικό παρελθόν. Η αναπαράσταση διαφορετικών ιστορικών γεγονότων όπως η Αντίσταση και ο Εμφύλιος, η Εξέγερση του Πολυτεχνείου και η διαμόρφωση των τραυματικών μνημοτοπίων της Μικράς Ασίας, της Κύπρου και της Μακρονήσου εδραιώνουν συγκεκριμένες αφηγήσεις για το συλλογικό παρελθόν. Ταυτόχρονα, πολλές από τις ταινίες ντοκιμαντέρ επιχειρούν να αφηγηθούν την ελληνική ιστορία μέσα από μια διαχρονική οπτική. Τέλος, το τελευταίο θέμα της έρευνας αφορά την λειτουργία των ταινιών ντοκιμαντέρ ως επιμνημόσυνων αφιερωμάτων πλάι σε άλλες επιμνημόσυνες πρακτικές (φεστιβάλ, εκδόσεις κ.λπ.). Όπως αναλύεται διεξοδικά στο εν λόγω κεφάλαιο, τα βιογραφικά ντοκιμαντέρ αλληλεπιδρούν διαρκώς με προγενέστερες μνημονικές εργασίες, αναπαράγοντας ή αμφισβητώντας προγενέστερα θεματικά μοτίβα. Ως εκ τούτου, η μνήμη των τριών ποιητών αποκαλύπτεται ως ένα έργο εν εξελίξει εντός ενός ευρύτερου δικτύου διακειμενικών και διαμεσικών αναφορών. Για τον λόγο αυτό, τα βιογραφικά ντοκιμαντέρ αναδεικνύονται σε προνομιακά πεδία μελέτης της δυναμικής της πολιτισμικής μνήμης, η οποία υπόκειται σε ποικίλες πολιτικές και πολιτισμικές αλλαγές στο πέρασμα του χρόνου. | |
| dc.description.abstracttranslated | My Phd thesis examines the biographical portrayals of Giorgos Seferis, Odysseas Elytis and Giannis Ritsos in cinematic and television documentary films, during the years 1979-2013, in Greece. Drawing on cultural memory studies, my thesis analyzes the ways in which these documentary films recurrently reproduce Seferis, Ritsos and Elytis as cultural memory figures through the intermedial retelling of their lives. The first chapter explores the thematic and narrative characteristics of the biographical documentaries. Moreover, it situates the biographical documentaries among other genres such as the biographical films (biopics) and historical documentaries. The second chapter explores the representation of the poets’ private life and the formation of their artistic persona. In many cases, the documentary films reproduce a romanticized version of the author while they also utilize specific biographical “topoi” to interpret each biography. Within this framework, several personal problems of the authors are dramatized, and they are used as explanatory schemas for the poets’ lives. At the same time, the filmmakers tend to associate the biographies of Seferis, Elytis and Ritsos with several historical and cultural issues. These linkages preexist in the poets’ lives and works, and they are reinvested with meaning through the filmmaking procedure. The third chapter directs attention toward the representation of Seferis, Elytis and Ritsos as political figures. The documentary films negotiate different aspects of their political action in order to interpret their public life. At the same time, the documentarists interrelate the poets’ work to specific historical events through the mechanism of editing. Within this context, the poems of Seferis, Ritsos and Elytis become metonymic symbols for several historical periods. The fourth chapter analyzes the ways in which documentary films portray historical past. The representation of different historical events such as the Resistance and the Civil War, the Athens Polytechnic Uprising in 1973 and the formation of the traumatic mnemotopes of Minor Asia, Cyprus and Makronisos consolidates specific narratives about the collective past. At the same time, many of the documentary films attempt to narrate Greek history through a diachronic perspective. Finally, the last topic of the survey concerns the commemorative function of the documentary films among other commemorative practices (festivals, editions etc.). As this chapter aims to show, biographical documentaries interact with previous commemorative works. Within this framework, the biographical documentaries reproduce previous thematic motifs, commenting on preceding memory projects. In light of these considerations, the biographical documentaries of this study seem to be works in progress within a broader network of intertextual and intermedial references. Within this network, the biographical documentaries become useful cases in order to study the dynamics of cultural memory which is subjected to several cultural shifts and political changes over time. | en |
