| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα θεωρητική εργασία διερευνά τις συνθήκες υπό τις οποίες ένας τόπος που συγκροτείται από θραύσματα, αναφορές, μνήμες και τεκμήρια μπορεί να αποκτήσει υπόσταση, συνοχή και αίσθηση πραγματικού. Καλλιτεχνικό πεδίο αυτής της διερεύνησης αποτελεί το «Αρχιπέλαγος της Νήρου», μια διαμεσική εγκατάσταση γύρω από τη Νήρο, ένα επινοημένο νησί στο Ανατολικό Αιγαίο. Η Νήρος διαμορφώνεται ως τόπος ανάμεσα στην πραγματικότητα, τη μνήμη και τη φαντασία, μέσα σε μια εκθεσιακή συνθήκη που παραπέμπει σε μουσείο. Η εργασία προσεγγίζει το νησί ως φιλοσοφική μορφή, διερευνώντας τη νησιωτικότητα και τις φαντασιακές γεωγραφίες σε σχέση με την απομόνωση, το όριο, την καταγωγή, την απώλεια, την επιθυμία και τη δυνατότητα. Το νησί λειτουργεί ως εικόνα-υπόσχεση, συνδεδεμένη με την τουριστική επιθυμία και την κατασκευή του τόπου ως προορισμού, και ως πεδίο προβολής ενός επιθυμητού μέλλοντος, ενώ η προσωπική μνήμη συνδέεται με την ανακατασκευή του παρελθόντος και την επινόηση ενός τόπου που μπορεί να λειτουργήσει ως χώρος επιστροφής και νοσταλγίας. Η Νήρος γίνεται έτσι ένα πεδίο όπου το βιωμένο, το επινοημένο και το συλλογικό μπορούν να συνυπάρξουν. Η μνήμη εξετάζεται ως διαδικασία ανακατασκευής, ενώ το αρχείο ως μηχανισμός οργάνωσης ιχνών που παράγει χρόνο και ιστορικότητα. Η αποσπασματικότητα και η μη γραμμική αφήγηση, σε συνδυασμό με τα εικασιακά μέσα, εντάσσονται στη διαδικασία της δημιουργίας κόσμων και στην καλλιτεχνική έρευνα. Μέσα από αυτή τη διαδικασία συγκροτείται ένα παρελθόν όχι κατ’ ανάγκην αληθές, που καθίσταται πειστικό μέσα από τη συσχέτιση διαφορετικών μορφών αναπαράστασης. Η καλλιτεχνική πρακτική λειτουργεί ως ερευνητική διαδικασία, καθώς οι επιλογές του έργου γεννούν τα ίδια τα ερωτήματα που διερευνά η εργασία. Η συνθετική εικόνα και η τεχνητή νοημοσύνη εξετάζονται ως σύγχρονες συνθήκες παραγωγής εικόνων και πληροφορίας, θέτοντας ζητήματα αξιοπιστίας, παραχάραξης και των τρόπων με τους οποίους κάτι αρχίζει να λειτουργεί ως αληθινό. Η επανάληψη, η υλικότητα και οι συσχετίσεις μεταξύ των επιμέρους στοιχείων συμβάλλουν στη διαμόρφωση της αληθοφάνειας και στην παραγωγή ιστορικότητας. Η Νήρος λειτουργεί ως ενδεχομενικός τόπος, όπου η επινόηση, η μνήμη και τα ίχνη ενός παρελθόντος αποκτούν συνοχή μέσα από τη δημιουργία ενός κόσμου. Η δημιουργία κόσμων αναδεικνύεται έτσι σε βασική μεθοδολογία και τρόπο σκέψης, καθώς η καλλιτεχνική πρακτική παράγει το ίδιο το ερευνητικό της πεδίο. Η εργασία υποστηρίζει τη δημιουργία κόσμων ως δυνατότητα αντίστασης και διάσωσης δυνατοτήτων του μέλλοντος προσφέροντας μας άλλους τρόπους να σκεφτούμε, να θυμηθούμε και να κατοικήσουμε έναν κόσμο. | |
| dc.description.abstracttranslated | This theoretical study investigates the conditions under which a place constituted through fragments, references, memories, and traces can acquire substance, coherence, and a sense of reality. The artistic field of this investigation is the Niros Archipelago, an intermedia installation centered on Niros, an imagined island in the Eastern Aegean. Niros takes shape as a place situated between reality, memory, and fiction, within an exhibitionary setting that evokes a museum. The study approaches the island as a philosophical form, exploring islandness and imaginative geographies in relation to isolation, liminality, origins, loss, desire, and possibility. The island functions as an image-as-promise, connected to touristic desire and the construction of place as destination, as well as a site for projecting a desired future. At the same time, personal memory becomes intertwined with the reconstruction of the past and the invention of a place that can function as a space of return and longing. Niros thus becomes a site where the lived, the imagined, and the collective can coexist. Memory is examined as a process of reconstruction, while the archive is understood as a mechanism for organizing traces that produces temporality and historicity. Fragmentation and nonlinear narrative, together with speculative media, become part of the process of worldbuilding and artistic research. Through this process, a past emerges that is not necessarily true, yet becomes convincing through the relationships established between different forms of representation. Artistic practice functions as a research process, as the choices made within the work generate the very questions that the study investigates. Synthetic images and artificial intelligence are examined as contemporary conditions for the production of images and information, raising questions of reliability, falsification, and the ways in which something can be perceived as real or accepted as true. Repetition, materiality, and the relationships between individual elements contribute to the formation of plausibility and the production of historicity. Niros functions as a contingent place, where invention, memory, and traces of a past acquire coherence through the creation of a world. Worldbuilding thus emerges as a fundamental methodology and mode of inquiry, as artistic practice generates its own field of research. The study proposes worldbuilding as a means of resistance and as a way of preserving future potentialities, offering alternative ways of remembering, imagining, and inhabiting a world. | en |
