| dc.description.abstract | Ο Vincent van Gogh υπήρξε μια από τις πιο ιδιοφυείς και ταραγμένες μορφές της τέχνης του 19ου αιώνα, και η εκτενής επιστολογραφία του –κυρίως με τον αδελφό του Theo – αποτελεί καθρέφτη της εσωτερικής του πορείας. Στις επιστολές του αποτυπώνεται όχι μόνο η βαθιά αδελφική σχέση και στήριξη, αλλά και οι αγωνίες του σχετικά με την καλλιτεχνική του ταυτότητα, την πίστη στον Θεό, την αποξένωσή του και τη θέση του στον κόσμο. Η μητέρα του, Anna Cornelia Carbentus, υπήρξε επίσης αποδέκτης σημαντικών γραμμάτων, τα οποία φανερώνουν την ανάγκη του για την οικογενειακή θαλπωρή. Η πρώιμη επαφή του με την Gallery Goupil, όπου εργάστηκε, τον έφερε σε επαφή με το εμπόριο τέχνης, αλλά ταυτόχρονα ενίσχυσε το αίσθημα του ανικανοποίητου. | dc.description.abstracttranslated | Vincent van Gogh was one of the most brilliant and troubled figures of 19th-century art, and his extensive correspondence—mainly with his brother Theo—serves as a mirror of his inner journey. His letters reveal not only the profound fraternal bond and support but also his struggles concerning his artistic identity, his faith in God, his sense of alienation, and his place in the world. His mother, Anna Cornelia Carbentus, was also the recipient of important letters that reflect his need for familial warmth. His early involvement with the Goupil Gallery, where he worked, introduced him to the international art market but at the same time deepened his sense of dissatisfaction. In his painting, van Gogh sought liberation from academic forms, giving priority to emotion and lived experience—and he achieved this—while literature remained for him a constant source of inspiration and reflection. Nevertheless, his mental instability, described in several letters, led him into isolation and, ultimately, to suicide. His correspondence, beyond being a personal record, also serves as a valuable key to understanding his art and his existential anguish. | en |
