| dc.description.abstract | Η εκπόνηση της εργασίας σκοπεύει στην πολύπλευρη προσέγγιση της αισθητικής του κιτς με άξονα το κείμενο “Avant Garde & Kitsch”, του Clement Greenberg. Ακολουθώντας τη δομή του εν λόγω κειμένου, αρχικά, αναπτύσσεται ένας κριτικός διάλογος γύρω από τις έννοιες του ακαδημαϊσμού, του αλεξανδρινισμού και της πρωτοπορίας με στόχο την θεωρητική και ιστορική πλαισίωση του κιτς. Κατόπιν, αφού αναφερθούν επιγραμματικά οι διάφοροι ορισμοί του κιτς, δίνεται έμφαση στην ανάδειξη του ως πολιτισμικό φαινόμενο, διατρέχοντας ολόκληρη την εργασία. Περαιτέρω, μέσα από τις κριτικές θεωρίες διαφόρων συγγραφέων μεταξύ των οποίων του Matei Calinescu, του Hermann Broch, του Umberto Eco, εξετάζονται οι πολύπλοκοι παράγοντες που συνθέτουν το αισθητικό φαινόμενο. Συγκεκριμένα, γίνεται λόγος για την ποιότητα της αστικής κουλτούρας, τον ρόλο της εκπαίδευσης τόσο στα αστικά όσο και στα στρώματα της ελίτ και την ουσιαστική παιδαγωγική λειτουργία του κιτς, με τον όρο απαλλαγμένο πλέον από το φλοιό της κατώτερης τέχνης/του κακού γούστου. Ακολουθεί μία διεξοδική ανάλυση για την σχέση της πρωτοπορίας με το κιτς, υπό το πρίσμα των Βaudelaire, Nietzche και Adorno, μεταξύ άλλων, αναδεικνύοντας την σχέση αλληλοσυμπλήρωσης τους, παρά τις καίριες διαφορές που υπογραμμίζονται. Επίσης, εντοπίζονται οι ρίζες της αισθητικής του κιτς ανατρέχοντας στην ιστορία και συνδέοντας την με το ιστορικό φαινόμενο της Θρησκευτικής Μεταρρύθμισης και με το ρεύμα του Ρομαντισμού. Τέλος, εξετάζεται ο ρόλος του κιτς στις πολιτικές πρακτικές, ιδίως ως εργαλείου πολιτικής προπαγάνδας. | |
| dc.description.abstracttranslated | The purpose of this paper is to approach the aesthetics of kitsch from multiple perspectives, using Clement Greenberg’s text “Avant-Garde and Kitsch” as its central axis. Following the structure of that text, the paper begins by developing a critical dialogue around the concepts of academicism, Alexandrianism, and the avant-garde, aiming to provide a theoretical and historical framework for understanding kitsch. Subsequently, after briefly presenting various definitions of kitsch, emphasis is placed on highlighting it as a cultural phenomenon, a theme that runs throughout the entire paper. Furthermore, through the critical theories of various authors—including Matei Calinescu, Hermann Broch, and Umberto Eco—the complex factors that constitute the aesthetic phenomenon are examined. Specifically, attention is given to the quality of urban culture, the role of education both in bourgeois and elite strata, and the essential pedagogical function of kitsch, with the term now stripped of its association with inferior art or bad taste. The paper then proceeds with a thorough analysis of the relationship between the avant-garde and kitsch, through the lens of Baudelaire, Nietzsche, and Adorno, among others, highlighting their complementary relationship despite key differences that are underlined. Additionally, the roots of kitsch aesthetics are traced through history, connecting them to the historical phenomenon of the Reformation and the Romantic movement. Finally, the role of kitsch in political practices is examined, particularly as a tool of political propaganda. | en |
