dc.description.abstract	Το 1911 ο Αμερικανός ζωγράφος Paul Swan παρουσίασε έργα του σε μια ατομική έκθεση στο δωμάτιο της πανσιόν όπου έμενε, στην οδό Σταδίου απέναντι από την παλαιά Βουλή. Επρόκειτο για έναν πρωτότυπο μάλλον χώρο έκθεσης, που τράβηξε το ενδιαφέρον μου για το ξεκίνημα της παρούσας έρευνας. Ο Swan έρχεται στην Αθήνα λίγες ημέρες οι οποίες θα καταλήξουν να γίνουν τέσσερις μήνες λόγω της απρόσμενης γνωριμίας του με τον γλύπτη Θωμά Θωμόπουλο. Μάλιστα, η Ακρόπολη θα τον εμπνεύσει να γίνει χορευτής. Σύντομα ο καλλιτεχνικός κόσμος της εποχής θα μιλούσε για τον «πιο όμορφο άνδρα στον κόσμο: τον Παύλο Σουάν». Δεκαετίες αργότερα, λησμονημένος από όλους και μεγάλος πια σε ηλικία, ο Paul Swan θα αποτελέσει έναν από τους ήρωες του camp κινηματογράφου του Andy Warhol. Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας είναι η απόπειρα συγκρότησης μιας ιστορίας για τις ημέρες και τα έργα του Swan στην Αθήνα, μέσα από έρευνα στον Τύπο της εποχής, αλλά και στο αρχείο του καλλιτέχνη.
dc.description.abstracttranslated	In 1911 the American painter Paul Swan exhibited several works in a solo show in Athens, Greece. He chose an original exhibition space; the room of a motel where he lived, on Stadiou Street opposite the Old Parliament building. Soon he’d become the talk of the town. Who would have guessed? Swan planned to stay in Athens for a few days, which turned out to be four months due to his unexpected meeting with sculptor Thomas Thomopoulos. Furthermore, as a turning point in his career, the Acropolis inspired him to become a dancer. After a while the newspapers would praise him as "the most beautiful man in the world”. Decades later, forgotten almost by everybody, Paul Swan would become one of the heroes of Andy Warhol's camp films. This research focuses on Swan's days in Athens, trying to narrate a story; my main sources are the artist's archive in MONA, Nebraska, and the press mainly from the 1910s and 1920s.	en
