Abstract
Η παρούσα μεταπτυχιακή εργασία πραγματεύεται το ζήτημα του πορτραίτου μέσω πολλαπλών οδών διερεύνησης. Βασικοί άξονες είναι η αντανάκλαση του εικαστικού στο περιβάλλον του, άμεσο και έμμεσο, η αυτό-απεικόνιση ως εργαλείο ανάγνωσης και αναγνώρισης του εαυτού αλλά και του «άλλου», τα σημεία σύνδεσης του ατόμου και κατ’ επέκταση του επιτελεστικού σώματος με το θεατή σε κοινωνικό, φυλετικό και ψυχοσυναισθηματικό επίπεδο και ο τρόπος με τον οποίο η εικαστική πρόθεση και η χειρονομία συνδιαλέγονται και επηρεάζουν ορμώμενες από βιώματα, μνήμες και τραύματα τα οποία θραυσματικά συντάσσουν το ψηφιδωτό που παρουσιάζεται ως κομμάτι του καλλιτεχνικού αφηγήματος όπως αυτό διαμορφώνεται μέσα στο χρόνο. Μέσω μίας εισαγωγής που εμπεριέχει αυτοαναφορικά στοιχεία και αναλύει την νευροδιαφορετικότητα από την βρεφική- παιδική μου ηλικία συνεχίζω φέροντας παραδείγματα εικαστικών έργων τα οποία αφορούν στην έννοια του αυτοπορτραίτου με άμεσο τρόπο ή με πιο αφαιρετική σκοπιά. Στη συνέχεια αναλύονται οι παράγοντες του χρόνου, της ύλης, της βίας και του «προβλήματος» ως παραγωγικού εμποδίου και το πως τα παραπάνω συνεισφέρουν στη σταχυολόγηση του σώματος του έργου. Κλείνοντας καταγράφεται με προσωπική γραφή η αντανάκλαση του εικαστικού νου στον ίδιο τον εικαστικό με το κείμενο “I against I” προκειμένου να τεθεί το ερώτημα της σχέσης του προσωπικού με το συλλογικό. Η εργασία συνοδεύεται και από το εικαστικό έργο “Einstein’s Cross” το οποίο αποτελεί ένα αυτό πορτραίτο από θραύσματα με την ανοιχτή έννοια. Σε πρακτικό επίπεδο αποτελείται από ένα κυρίως γλυπτό υπό τη μορφή προτομής κατασκευασμένης επιτελεστικά (performative sculptural construction) από θραύσματα κατόπτρων επάνω στο οποίο προβάλλονται προσωπικά κείμενα συγκεντρωμένα επί μακρύ χρονικό διάστημα. Συνοδεύεται από οθόνες με βιντεοπροβολές, ζωγραφικά έργα, γλυπτά υπό μορφή ready-mades και έναν τόμο 300 σελίδων με αρχειακό υλικό.
Abstract in english
This master's thesis addresses the issue of portraiture through multiple avenues of investigation. The main axes are the reflection of the visual artist in his/her environment, direct and indirect, self-portrayal as a tool for reading and recognizing the self and the "other", the points of connection between the individual and, by extension, the performative body and the viewer within a social context, racial and psycho-emotional levels of the performer and the way in which visual intention and gesture intertwine and are influenced by experiences, memories and traumas which fragmentarily compose the mosaic presented as part of the artistic narrative as it is shaped through time. Through an introduction that includes self-referential elements and analyses neurodiversity from my infancy-childhood, I continue by bringing examples of visual artworks that relate to the concept of self-portraiture in a direct way or in a more abstract manner. The factors of time, matter, violence and 'trouble' as a productive obstacle are then analyzed and discussed as to how these contribute to the stylization of the body of work. In conclusion, the reflection of the artist's mind on the artist is recorded in the form of a personal writing in the text "I against I" in order to raise the question of the relationship between the personal and the collective. The work is accompanied by the visual artwork "Einstein's Cross" which is a self-portrait made from fragments in the open sense. On a practical level, it consists of a mainly sculptural bust in the form of a performative sculptural construction made out of mirror fragments on which personal texts collected over a long period of time are projected. It is accompanied by screens with video projections, paintings, ready-made sculptures and a 300-page volume of archival material.
