dc.description.abstract	Η παρούσα εργασία διερευνά τη σχέση μεταξύ της μεταπολεμικής αστικής ανάπτυξης της Αθήνας, του συστήματος της αντιπαροχής και της αρχιτεκτονικής σκέψης των Δημήτρη και Σουζάνας Αντωνακάκη. Στόχος της είναι να αναδείξει τον τρόπο με τον οποίο οι αρχές του κριτικού τοπικισμού και της αστικής συνέχειας μετασχηματίστηκαν σε εφαρμοσμένη σχεδιαστική πρακτική μέσα στο πλαίσιο της ελληνικής πολυκατοικίας. Αρχικά εξετάζεται το ιστορικό και θεσμικό πλαίσιο της μεταπολεμικής Αθήνας, με έμφαση στη ραγδαία αστικοποίηση, στον μηχανισμό της αντιπαροχής και στις επιπτώσεις των οικοδομικών κανονισμών στη διαμόρφωση του αστικού ιστού. Στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζονται οι θεωρητικές καταβολές του ελληνικού μοντερνισμού και του κριτικού τοπικισμού, όπως διαμορφώθηκαν μέσα από το έργο σημαντικών Ελλήνων αρχιτεκτόνων και τη διεθνή αρχιτεκτονική θεωρία. Το κύριο μέρος της έρευνας επικεντρώνεται στη συγκριτική τυπολογική και μορφολογική ανάλυση επτά πολυκατοικιών του γραφείου Atelier 66, που κατασκευάστηκαν μεταξύ 1960 και 1978. Μέσα από τη μελέτη της χωρικής οργάνωσης, της διαχείρισης των μεταβατικών χώρων, της υλικότητας και της σχέσης ιδιωτικού και συλλογικού χώρου, αναδεικνύεται η σταδιακή διαμόρφωση μιας ιδιαίτερης αρχιτεκτονικής γλώσσας, η οποία υπερέβη τις συμβάσεις της τυποποιημένης αντιπαροχικής πολυκατοικίας. Η έρευνα καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι οι Αντωνακάκη αξιοποίησαν δημιουργικά τους περιορισμούς της αγοράς και της νομοθεσίας, μετατρέποντάς τους σε εργαλεία αρχιτεκτονικής καινοτομίας. Το έργο τους συνιστά μια διαχρονικά επίκαιρη πρόταση για την ποιοτική συλλογική κατοίκηση και προσφέρει χρήσιμα θεωρητικά και σχεδιαστικά εργαλεία για τον επαναπροσδιορισμό της σύγχρονης ελληνικής πόλης.
dc.description.abstracttranslated	This thesis investigates the relationship between post-war urban development in Athens, the antiparochi system, and the architectural thought of Dimitris and Suzana Antonakakis. Its primary objective is to examine how the principles of Critical Regionalism and urban continuity were translated into architectural practice through the design of the Greek apartment building. The study first explores the historical and institutional framework of post-war Athens, focusing on rapid urbanization, the antiparochi mechanism, and the impact of building regulations on the formation of the urban fabric. It then discusses the theoretical foundations of Greek Modernism and Critical Regionalism within both the Greek and international architectural context. The core of the research consists of a comparative typological and morphological analysis of seven apartment buildings designed by Atelier 66 between 1960 and 1978. Through the examination of spatial organization, transitional spaces, materiality, and the relationship between private and collective domains, the study highlights the gradual development of a distinctive architectural language that challenged the conventions of the standardized apartment block produced by the antiparochi system. The findings demonstrate that Dimitris and Suzana Antonakakis creatively exploited the constraints imposed by speculative development and building regulations, transforming them into opportunities for architectural innovation. Their work offers a significant model for collective housing and remains highly relevant to contemporary debates on the regeneration and future transformation of the Greek city.	en
