| dc.description.abstract | Ο Κώδικας Αμιατίνους (Codex Amiatinus) είναι το παλαιότερο σωζόμενο χειρόγραφο/αντίγραφο της Βίβλου γραμμένο στη Λατινική Βουλγάτα (Vulgata) (c. 700) και ένα από τα σημαντικότερα στο είδος του. Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας είναι να μελετήσει το ιστορικό πλαίσιο δημιουργίας του, τη διαδρομή του από τη ΒΑ Αγγλία στη Φλωρεντία και την ιδιαίτερη αξία του ως εργαλείου για την κατανόηση της ιστορίας των βιβλικών μεταφράσεων και εικονογραφήσεων. Ειδικότερα θα γίνει αναλυτική περιγραφή του κώδικα και κυρίως των εικονογραφήσεων, του τρόπου ένταξής τους στο κείμενο καθώς και της σημασίας τους, εστιάζοντας στα προβλήματα που έχει αναδείξει η μέχρι σήμερα έρευνα. Ένα σημαντικό κομμάτι της εργασίας θα επικεντρωθεί στον σχολιασμό της διαδρομής του χειρογράφου από την μεσαιωνική Νορθούμπρια, τόπο δημιουργίας του, στο Μόντε Αμιάτα (Monte Amiata) της Τοσκάνης και μετέπειτα στη Φλωρεντία όπου και βρίσκεται μέχρι σήμερα. Επίσης θα εξεταστεί ο ρόλος του Κώδικα Αμιατίνους στην βιβλιογραφική παραγωγή των εργαστηρίων των δίδυμων μοναστηριών Γουέρμουθ-Τζάροου (Wearmouth-Jarrow) και θα γίνει σύγκριση του με άλλα σημαντικά χειρόγραφα από το ίδιο σκριπτόριο αλλά και από την κοντινή μονή του Λίντισφερν (Lindisfarne). Τέλος θα διερευνηθούν πιθανές καινοτομίες του κώδικα σε σχέση με άλλα χειρόγραφα της εποχής του. | |
| dc.description.abstracttranslated | The Codex Amiatinus is the oldest surviving manuscript/copy of the Bible written in the Latin Vulgate (c. 700) and one of the most significant of its kind. The purpose of the present study is to examine the historical context of its creation, its journey from northeastern England to Florence, and its particular value as a tool for understanding the history of biblical translations and illustrations. Specifically, there will be a detailed description of the codex and especially of its illustrations, their integration into the text, and their significance, with an emphasis on the issues that have been highlighted by current research. An important part of the study will focus on the manuscript’s journey from medieval Northumbria, its place of origin, to Monte Amiata in Tuscany, and later to Florence, where it remains to this day. Furthermore, the study will examine the role of the Codex Amiatinus in the scriptorial production of the twin monasteries of Wearmouth–Jarrow, and it will compare it with other important manuscripts from the same scriptorium as well as from the nearby Lindisfarne monastery. Finally, it will explore possible innovations of the codex in relation to other manuscripts of its time. | en |
