| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία με τίτλο «Έμβια Συστήματα και Βιοτέχνη» εξετάζει θεωρητικά και ιστορικά τη βιοτέχνη και τη συνάντησή της με τον μεταανθρωπισμό και την έννοια του κυβοργικού σώματος. Η μελέτη εστιάζει σε καλλιτεχνικές πρακτικές που αξιοποιούν ζωντανούς οργανισμούς, βιοτεχνολογικές διαδικασίες και επιστημονικά πρωτόκολλα, προκειμένου να επαναπροσδιορίσουν τα όρια μεταξύ ζωής και τεχνολογίας, φυσικού και τεχνητού, ανθρώπινου και μη ανθρώπινου. Μέσα από την ανάλυση έργων των Eduardo Kac, Tissue Culture & Art Project και Stelarc, διερευνώνται ζητήματα ταυτότητας, σωματικότητας, ηθικής και αισθητικής της βιοτεχνολογίας, καθώς και οι τρόποι με τους οποίους η τέχνη συνομιλεί με τις σύγχρονες επιστημονικές και φιλοσοφικές προκλήσεις. Το θεωρητικό πλαίσιο της εργασίας στηρίζεται στις μετα-ανθρωπιστικές θεωρίες των Donna Haraway και Rosi Braidotti, οι οποίες προτείνουν μια μη-ανθρωποκεντρική κατανόηση της ύπαρξης και μια νέα οντολογία της σχέσης μεταξύ ζωής και μη-ζωής. Εξετάζεται η έννοια της υβριδικότητας ως δυναμικού τόπου συνάντησης ανθρώπου, μηχανής και άλλων μορφών ζωής, καθώς και η έννοια του «μερικώς ζωντανού» (partial life) ως φιλοσοφική και αισθητική κατηγορία που αμφισβητεί τις δυαδικότητες της δυτικής σκέψης. Η εργασία προτείνει την κατανόηση του σώματος ως ανοιχτού, μεταβαλλόμενου πεδίου, στο οποίο η ζωή και η μη-ζωή, το οργανικό και το τεχνητό, αλληλοδιεισδύουν και συνυπάρχουν σε μια διαδικασία συνεχούς μετασχηματισμού. Μέσα από αυτή τη θεώρηση, η βιοτέχνη αναδεικνύεται όχι μόνο ως αισθητική πρακτική, αλλά και ως φιλοσοφική διερεύνηση της ίδιας της έννοιας του έμβιου. | |
| dc.description.abstracttranslated | The present master’s thesis, titled “Living Systems and Bioart,” examines, both theoretically and historically, the field of bioart and its encounter with posthumanism and the concept of the cyborg body. The study focuses on artistic practices that employ living organisms, biotechnological processes, and scientific protocols in order to redefine the boundaries between life and technology, the natural and the artificial, the human and the non-human. Through the analysis of works by Eduardo Kac, The Tissue Culture & Art Project, and Stelarc, the thesis explores issues of identity, corporeality, ethics, and the aesthetics of biotechnology, as well as the ways in which art engages with contemporary scientific and philosophical challenges. The theoretical framework of the thesis is grounded in the posthumanist theories of Donna Haraway and Rosi Braidotti, who propose a non-anthropocentric understanding of existence and a new ontology of the relationship between life and non-life. The concept of hybridity is examined as a dynamic site of encounter between human, machine, and other forms of life, as well as the notion of “partial life” as a philosophical and aesthetic category that challenges the dualisms of Western thought. The thesis proposes an understanding of the body as an open, mutable field in which life and non-life, the organic and the artificial, interpenetrate and coexist in a process of continuous transformation. Through this perspective, bioart emerges not only as an aesthetic practice but also as a philosophical investigation into the very notion of the living. | en |
